Tax Revenue
Wind farms are an important economic driver for the communities in and near the wind farms. These projects provide the following benefits:
1) Significant local property tax revenue to local governments. Numerous local groups including state and local governments are working to ensure proper legal mechanisms are in place to ensure the taxes paid by renewable energy projects are beneficial to all local landowners.
2) Hundreds of construction jobs, as well as long-term on-site operational jobs
3) Opportunities for local businesses to provide goods and services to the project, both during construction and after
4) Additional economic activity and peripheral benefits to local restaurants, hotels/motels, convenience stores/gas stations, and more
5) Landowner lease payments for the life of the project which provides an additional income stream that is not dependent upon the weather or commodity prices
