Farming and leasing land for a wind farm are compatible land uses. Wind turbines typically require 2/3rds of an acre or less, leaving the rest of the land available for continued farming.

Research suggests that wind turbines do not create a net warming of the air and instead only re-distribute the air’s heat near the surface. A study done by Iowa State University indicates that microclimate changes would have a “small positive impact on crops”.
